Youth Development Grants
Founded in 1997, NYCOSC is a nonprofit organization that provides training and support to community organizers and grassroots leaders. In July 2000, NYCOSC initiated an assessment of local youth organizing groups to see how they currently use technology in their organizing work. The groups identified Database Creation and Use, Desktop Publishing, Website Development, and General use of Computer Applications as the most pressing areas for technological support. NYCOSC subsequently launched the Technology Project for Youth Organizing Groups to help the groups use technology to strengthen their membership and campaign development through technology. NYCOSC received a $20,000 grant toward this initiative.

Youth Development Grants
Founded in 1986, PEPP is a grassroots organization on the border of Minnesota and North Dakota that aims to develop a strong and unified voice to gain economic justice for all people. Since last year, PEPP has involved young people in organizing work. Eight young people have participated in demonstrations, attended welfare rights strategy meetings, attended a statewide rally, met with legislators, and are working on a lobby campaign to impact the welfare time-limit issue. Earlier this year, PEPP launched the Youth Organizing Project to enable young people to develop their organizing and leadership development skills, and participate in long-term direct action around issues of concern to local youth. PEPP received a $20,000 grant to engage 12 young people in an organizing campaign around welfare reform in Minnesota.

Youth Development Grants
Early this year, PLAN, a statewide advocacy organization, established the Nevada Young Activist Project (NYAP). As envisioned, NYAP will provide a space for young people to develop leadership skills and to participate in advocacy efforts around key issues affecting young people in the state. PLAN received a $15,000 grant to conduct an organizing campaign around racial profiling, and to integrate young people in the organization's decision-making process.
