Public Education Grants
Since 1999, LA Metro has been organizing parents and community residents, and developing relationships with school officials and teachers unions, in an effort to push for system level reforms. Today, there are 31 schools in Los Angeles working with LA Metro around such issues as overcrowding and funding issues. LA Metro was awarded a three-year renewal grant of $120,000 to increase the number of targeted schools to 50 and to develop a plan to address issues related to teacher qualifications and retention.
