Public Education Grants
Over the past five years, the Community Involvement Program (CIP) of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform has been developing and coordinating colloaboratives comprising community-based groups organizing for education reform with the goal of increasing capacity, expertise and power in order to effectively impact the quality of education at both the local and systemic levels in New York City. The Coalition for Educational Justice (CEJ) and the Urban Youth Collaborative (UYC) are two CIP City-wide Collaboratives that build working relationships with organizing groups, labor groups and the Dept. of Education to improve educational outcomes for middle and high school students. A one year $75,000 Collaborative grant from Hazen will support the ongoing work of these two important community-based collaboratives.
