Youth Development Grants
Founded in 1996, SOUL is an organizing and training center dedicated to developing a new, multiracial generation of youth leaders with the skills and the vision needed to create a more just world for all people. To date, SOUL has trained some 60 young grassroots leaders, 78% of whom are women and 92% people of color. In 1998, SOUL launched the Youth in Struggle Program to strengthen the leadership skills of youth leaders from emerging youth organizations. SOUL received a one-year $25,000 grant to expand the program and to improve the capacity of targeted youth organizations in such areas as: membership development, staff training, organizational development, and networking.
